HOW TO LOCATE WI-FI IP ADDRESS ON ANDROID PHONE

Published by Unknown on Wednesday 8 January 2014  |  No comments

Internet protocol address or IP address for short is a set of numerical label given to any device that is a part of a communication network for the purpose of communication. The two main purpose of an IP address is for host or network interface identification and location addressing.
With this in mind, it is important that users of network gadgets like mobile phones and computers should be able to know their IP address so as to distinguish it from a lot during troubleshooting or the likes. Secondly, it is necessary if you don’t want to be tracked or spied on since IP address has the capacity of telling your location at any point in time. For the latter, changing your IP address or at
least hiding it from suspecting eyes will be a better option.
For some gadgets that run on Android mobile applications, to locate the IP address is not a straight forward approach as there must be a connection before you can locate your IP address for wi-fi connections only.
The steps mentioned below will help you to achieve that.

· Ensure you have a wi-fi connection.
· Click on setting >> wireless &/or network as the case may be depending on your version of android application >> wi-fi settings.
· Under wi-fi networks tap on any desired and connected network. This pops up a dialog box displaying: status, security, signal strength, link speed and IP address.
One other way of achieving this which is more encompassing as it works for almost all gadget types and applications whether wi-fi or mobile network is by visiting IP2location. This website gives you your IP address, location, region, weather station etc.  with this life is more easier but you must ensure you are observant to know which network you are using wi-fi or mobile network in order not to mix things up.
